Rich Habits Fact of the Day
“We didn’t know if it was humanly possible to reach the top of Mt. Everest. And even using oxygen as we were, if we did get to the top, we weren’t at all sure whether we wouldn’t drop dead or something of that nature.”
On May 29, 1953, Sir Edmund Hillary and a Nepalese Sherpa, Tenzing Norgay, set foot on the 29,028-foot (8,848-metre) summit of Everest, the highest point on earth. They had succeeded where others had failed, and had survived a journey that had taken the lives of great explorers before them and many since. Until that year, Edmund Hillary had lived in relative obscurity as a beekeeper in Auckland, New Zealand, but the unprecedented feat of scaling the world’s highest mountain brought him a fame he could hardly have imagined.
Rich Habits Lesson of the Day
Passion and Purpose go hand in hand. Without purpose you lose your passion for living. When you lose your passion for living, your life can slip into a state of depression. Having a purpose in life defends against passion-sapping triggering events such as death, illness, job loss etc. If you want to live and never fall victim to the ravages of depression you need a major purpose in life.
