Everyone should have one thing they are pursuing that, when achieved, helps set them apart from everyone else. It should be something they are doing on the side that is big, challenging, unique and riddled with adversity. This side hustle should be something that forces you to gain knowledge and develop new skills or expand existing skills.
Only through growth is success possible. Growth, therefore, is a prerequisite for success.
So, what are you doing to grow?
Most will not have an answer. Most are too afraid or risk averse to pursue anything that lacks certainty. As a result most will eke out a living, bathed in mediocrity, following the herd.
Life becomes worth living when you are pursuing something that separates you from the herd. Find your Magnum Opus, your grand side hustle, your life dream, or big goal. Then pursue it.
Those Dreamers who became rich and successful in my Rich Habits Study all had something they were pursuing for years that, when achieved, transformed them into self-made millionaires.
We are the only species on the planet that not only has the capacity to dream but also the ability to transform dreams into reality.
Find your Magnum Opus and devote time to it, every day. It won’t be easy but it will light a fire inside you that you never realized you had and that fire will force you to grow into the person you need to be in order for success to visit you.
This is true. Whenever I am working towards a big goal I feel more purposeful, and driven. It sparks my creative juices and overall my mood and energy are so much better. Thanks for the reminder!
Tom – it would be difficult to describe how perfectly relevant and uniquely important this post today is for me! Thank you. It was special to me at this very moment in time! I know what my Magnum Opus is. I’m struggling with how to handle it.
