I was somewhat shocked to learn that 61% of the self-made millionaires in my Rich Habits Study were members of the Board of Directors of local non-profits. Since the pursuit of wealth is often very time-consuming and requires sacrifices to family and friend time, how did they find the time?
Interestingly, the answer is that the self-made millionaires in my Study said they felt it was critical to their success in life to associate with other like-minded, successful people. I learned from my research that relationships are the true currency of the wealthy. Wealthy individuals make a habit of building relationships with other successful people.
And most of the people who help run community-based non-profits happen to be wealthy, successful people.
So, if you’re looking to surround yourself with other successful people, find a community non-profit, whose mission you support, and get involved.
Wealthy, successful people are door openers. With a phone call, text or email, they can open doors that are otherwise closed to everyone but you.
