Keanu Reeves has made over sixty movies. He is considered one of the most successful actors in the history of Hollywood. He’s been paid close to $315 million for his acting and his net worth is estimated to be about $380 million. Everyone in the movie industry, from Producers to Directors to Actors to Stuntmen to Set Crews want to work with Keanu. But they don’t just want to work with him, they all say they love him, as a human being.

Why is Keanu so beloved by so many in his industry? What traits does Keanu possess that have elevated him above all others, in his industry?

Generosity

One of the set crew on the Matrix was having financial troubles after the release of the movie in 1999. Upon hearing about his financial difficulties, Keanu sent the crew member a check for $20,000. When the follow up movie, Matrix Reloaded, was completed, Keanu gifted each of the stuntmen on the movie a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He also gave stunt men Rolex watches after another one of his movies.

Relationship Excellence

Keanu makes it a personal habit to know the name of everyone he works with on his movies. But he doesn’t stop there. He also talks with each person on the set and gets to know them, their family life, their interests, no matter who they are, big or small. Those who work with Keanu come away feeling that he truly cares about them.

Work Ethic

Keanu diligently prepares for every movie. He shows up on time, works very hard on set, and devotes himself to ensuring each movie has the best opportunity for success at the box office, by doing dozens of media interviews, promoting the movie.

Tunneling

Keanu has had more than his fair share of adversity. In 1999, his daughter was stillborn. His girlfriend, whom he considered his soul mate, died in a car crash in 2001. His best friend died in 1993. Despite all of this heartache, Keanu was somehow able to focus his attention on his work as an actor. They call this ability to focus during adversity, “tunneling”.

I‘d like to credit Merle Ginsberg for the research on Keanu used in this post.

Unfortunately, these traits seem like they are weird and against the norm. That is why it is even more important to embody them because being generous, kind, and focused will definitely get you noticed!
