Poor Sleep Poor Brain.

A good night’s sleep is a Rich Habit for a very good reason.

In order for your brain to function properly, you need 4-6 Sleep Cycles to occur during sleep, every night. Each Sleep Cycle lasts approximately 90 minutes. If you do the math, that works out to between 360 minutes (6 hours) to 450 minutes (7.5 hours).

During each sleep cycle you enter deep sleep for 20-40 minutes. It is during deep sleep that your brain cells shrink about 60% in order to make room for Glymphatic Cerebrospinal Fluid to enter the crevices’ of the brain.

The Glymphatic System is the brain’s sewer system and janitorial crew. The Cerebrospinal Fluid’s job is to remove waste, Amyloid and Tua. Waste builds up during the day primarily due to digestion (eating). Amyloid and Tua builds up during the day due to mental activity, stress and physical activity.

Bottom line, in order for your brain to function optimally, you need to make a good night’s sleep a daily habit. About 7.5 hours of sleep each night keeps your brain functioning optimally.

For those pursuing dreams and goals, optimal brain function is a prerequisite.
