The pursuit of goals toggles on a part of the brain that is earmarked to assist you in the achievement of your goals.
The area of the brain toggled on is called the Entorhinal Cortex, which is connected to the Hippocampus.
The interesting thing about the Hippocampus is that it is considered the brain’s gatekeeper.
As the brain’s gatekeeper, the Hippocampus, like a radar, is constantly surveying your environment. If it notices something in the environment that can help aid you in the achievement of one or more goals, it alerts the Prefrontal Cortex, which then takes notice of the environmental trigger.
If the Prefrontal Cortex determines that the environmental trigger is relevant to the achievement of a goal, it activates brain cells called Grid Cells, located in the Entorhinal Cortex. Those Grid Cells then go to work assimilating the environmental trigger in an effort to help you achieve that goal.
