Success Mentors are your best hope of breaking free of poverty or the middle-class.

Almost 92% of the self-made millionaires in my study, who had a mentor, said they owed 100% of their wealth to their mentor. These mentors taught them new habits, new beliefs, how to think just like successful people think, how successful people set and achieve goals, processes that lead to success and other tricks/strategies that helped guarantee success.

Basically, success mentors teach you the Hidden Rules to Success.

Who were the mentors of my Self-Made Millionaires?

Parent Mentors

Parents are often the only shot most get at having a Success Mentor in their lives.

The self-made millionaires in my study came mostly from poverty or the middle-class. So, while they may not have been born rich, they were most definitely born lucky.

The lucky ones were raised by parents who were devoted to instilling in them good habits, a hard work ethic and a positive mental outlook, all of which helped them to become successful. Despite the fact that their parents did not have the financial resources for private schools and tutors, their kids excelled in life and became very rich, thanks to the mentoring they received from their parents.

Career Mentors

Twenty-four percent of the self-made millionaires in my study said they found their mentors on the job.

Teacher Mentors

Eight percent of the self-made millionaires in my study pointed to one or more teachers who were instrumental in showing them the path towards success.

Other Mentors

Four percent of the self-made millionaires in my study found their success mentors in organizations such as the Boy Scouts, Big Brothers/Big Sisters or local community organizations or books. The books included self-help books, rags to riches biographies of successful people and other books that inspired and motivated them.

Another eight percent were their own mentors – they learned what to do and what not to do through the school of hard knocks.

These school of hard knocks millionaires, pursued some dream or started their own business. They struggled through years of trial and error, mistakes and failures. The lessons they learned cost them time and money and, as a result, those lessons were like permanent scar tissue on the brain – forever remembered .

The big take away from my research is that the easiest path towards success lies in finding a success mentor who will show you what to do and what not to do. Mentors take away the potholes, bumps and wrong turns, along the road towards success. They also teach you the otherwise Hidden Rules of Success.

I try to find a mentor at every job I’m at. Now that I’ve started my own business I heavily look to online content for mentoring guidance. I think there is a lot of good content available now!
